Don’t lay an egg on your appointments. Remember, get your clients and prospects laughing as much as you can. When folks are laughing they will buy a lot of stuff from you. Dry, dial tone presentations yield very little.
“This is what they call a prospectus…”
Go get some joke books from the library, start watching reruns of the Carol Burnette Show or take a course on becoming a stand up comedian. All of these things should help. Have the courage to step out of your comfort zone and put some sizzle into your presentations.
Send in the Clowns!
So this horse walks into a bar, the bartender says “Hey, why the long face?” After the chuckles die down a bit and now that your prospect is in a positive buying frame of mind, you go ahead and launch into the benefits of your products and services. You see?
Be creative and really make an effort to bring some sunshine and belly jiggling laughter to your appointments. Be on the alert, however, for feedback such as raised eyebrows and other nonverbal perplexed facial expressions .

If you happen to be selling funeral arrangements, for instance, then this technique probably won’t go over too good. Use discretion whenever possible. Thank you and have a good day.
